Project Description
This project aims to build an inclusive secure and safe society for women and girls in Ghana. The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) implements this project which is also a part of the Elsie Initiative for Women in Peace Operations. FOSDA follows Ghana’s second National Action Plan (GHANAP2) which focuses on implementing the United Nations Security Council Resolutions on Women Peace and Security. These resolutions recognize the unique and disproportionate effects of armed conflict on women and girls. They also promote and support women’s active and meaningful participation in all conflict-prevention and conflict-resolution processes and institutions. Project activities include: (1) monitoring reports on implementing GHANAP2 on an annual basis; (2) launching the Network of Women Mediators in Ghana; (3) organizing training workshops for newly appointed gender focal officers within the Ghana Armed Forces; and (4) holding annual validation and stakeholder workshops on implementing GHANAP2.
Expected Results
The expected outcome of this project includes the effective implementation of the Ghana National Action Plan on Women Peace and Security by target stakeholders especially institutions.
