Project Description

Through this project the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Republic of Moldova aims to strengthen trust between law enforcement officials and communities. The project also seeks to enhance security and stability by improving refugee migrant and host community safety. Project activities include: (1) delivering training for the Moldovan National Police (MNP) on community engagement; (2) providing technical assistance to the MNP helping to maintain public order and respond to emergencies; (3) organizing MNP-community information exchange forums; (4) providing equipment to help the MNP in preventing and combatting cross-border crime; and (5) evaluating MNP capacity to perform risk analysis and intelligence-led policing.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased capacities of police authorities and local communities to communicate and coordinate on safety and security concerns in the Republic of Moldova. This includes communities hosting significant number of conflict-affected persons; and (2) strengthened intelligence-led Police capacity and ability to respond to cross-border crime by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
