Project Description
This project aims to increase access to resettlement livelihood opportunities and enhance stability and security in mine-cleared areas of Northern Sri Lanka for war-affected women men girls and boys. Project activities include: (1) clearing landmines and other explosive remnants of war and releasing land back to land owners and internally displaced people; (2) delivering targeted and mainstreamed capacity-building trainings for women and men HALO staff to increase their opportunities for post-mine action employment; and (3) increasing awareness among women and men HALO staff of the importance and value of gender equality.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased access to resettlement by internally displaced people and enhanced security and stability of landmine-affected women men girls and boys; and (2) increased equitable access to alternative economic activities and strengthened resilience and empowerment of HALO staff particularly women.
