Project Description

This project complements and supports Canada’s $120 million sovereign loan to Jordan. It aims to modernize the country’s vocational education sector and increase access to safe inclusive and quality vocational education for Jordanian and refugee boys and girls. Project activities include: (1) developing action plans for implementing new vocational education curriculum; (2) developing gender-sensitive career guidance in schools; (3) developing frameworks for public-private sector partnerships in technical vocational education; (4) designing training for teachers on new curriculum materials; and (5) designing awareness programs that promote the value of vocational education.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened key policy elements of Jordan’s national skills ecosystem across all levels of the education system; (2) improved skills development pathways and practices in vocational education schools; and (3) enhanced social standing and image of technical vocational education and training by young men and women and communities in Jordan.

Progress & Results Achieved

Results achieved as of March 2024 include: (1) completed 4 key reports to strengthen vocational education including a completed gender analysis and private sector engagement report; (2) selected the 12 schools receiving technical support; and (3) selected the technical vocational education and training action plans to support the Ministry of Education.
