Project Description

The United Nations (UN) Somalia Joint Fund supports Somalia’s national priorities. It uses the combined and unique expertise of various UN agencies to target vulnerable communities in Somalia. Canada's support of the Fund aims to join UN programming dedicated to advancing gender equality and human rights.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) supported the legislative framework in protecting the human rights of all persons in Somalia including the most vulnerable persons; and (2) enhanced representation and meaningful participation of women in political legislative and peace infrastructures and processes. This aims to promote sustain and consolidate peace and gender-responsive approaches to peacebuilding with women at the helm of the peace building process.
