Project Description
The Private Sector Financing Programme (PSFP) aims to support rural people to overcome poverty and achieve food security by supporting sustainable and resilient livelihoods. The PSFP focuses on catalyzing greater private sector investments to support and benefit small producers and rural micro small and medium enterprises in local agri-food systems. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) manages the PSFP . Project activities include: (1) addressing bottlenecks in underserved value chains; (2) increasing market participation through small producers’ aggregation (3) creating more resilient value chains (4) promoting the adoption of digital innovations that improve value chain efficiency transparency sustainability and resilience.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased income and revenues for small holders involved in food systems; (2) increased rural employment opportunities for women and youth; (3) increased production and productivity of farmers; (4) improved access to finance for rural agri-food micro small and medium enterprises involved in local food systems; and (5) strengthened resilience of small producers to the impacts of climate change on their food security and nutrition.
