Project Description
The project aims to improve food security by increasing income for households working in agriculture in Sudan with a particular focus on women and youth. Project activities include: (1) developing an inclusive gender-responsive strategy for improving agricultural markets in target states; (2) supporting set up and strengthening for agribusiness hubs which will provide services to farmers and agricultural business owners; (3) training farmer groups and small- and medium-sized businesses on food processing managerial marketing and trade promotion techniques; (4) improving access to finance for agricultural business owners especially for female-led businesses; and (5) facilitating collective action and advocacy to level the playing field for female entrepreneurs.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) enhanced provision of gender equitable agribusiness services to MSMEs and farmers’ cooperatives by agribusiness transformation hubs in target states; and (2) increased performance of agribusinesses with an emphasis on women’s economic empowerment.
