Project Description

This project aims to strengthen Canadian maritime safety and security by developing the capabilities of maritime partner nations. Project activities include: (1) engaging in multinational maritime security working groups in West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea; (2) contributing expertise and knowledge for curriculum development and providing training to strengthen maritime law enforcement agencies’ capability; and (3) carrying out joint research with academic institutions on people’s flows and other illicit goods to inform other capacity-building activities. This project is implemented by the Canadian Coast Guard in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime with the support of Canadian governmental agencies such as the Canada Border Services Agency. This project benefits law enforcement officers from East and West African coastal countries South American and South East Asian countries.

Expected Results
