Project Description
This project aims to improve inclusive democratic governance in Sri Lanka to better address the needs of women youth and marginalized communities in the aftermath of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis. Project activities include: (1) developing case studies on the economic benefits of inclusive governance practices and sharing them with political leaders and party members; (2) facilitating dialogues with political leaders and party members on the comparative economic advantages of inclusive multilevel forms of governance; (3) facilitating capacity and knowledge-building activities for women youth marginalized leaders and civil society organizations. It does so by focusing on multilevel systems’ structures processes entry points and fiscal practices that are relevant to these target groups; and (4) providing training to women youth and marginalized leaders on engaging with political decision-making systems.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved decision making by political leaders and parties including women representatives supporting inclusive governance in Sri Lanka; and (2) increased participation of women youth and marginalized communities including Tamils and Muslims in governance processes within Sri Lanka.
