Project Description

This project funds to the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) to install a radiation detection system at checkpoint sites across Ukraine’s Chornobyl zone. Project activities include: (1) conducting designs of the sites and training plan; (2) consulting with and ensuring agreement of sites' stakeholders; (3) developing designs for the installation of the system; (4) procuring supplying installing and commissioning the system; (5) supplying portable radiometers; and (6) delivering related operational and maintenance training to the Ukrainian beneficiary.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project are: (1) access by the Ukrainian authorities to a radiation detection system and their increased knowledge on operation and maintenance of the equipment; and (2) increased nuclear and radiological materials counter-smuggling security measures in Ukraine.
