Project Description
This project supports the United Nations Trust Fund (UNTF) to end violence against women. The UNTF is a global multilateral grant-making mechanism that supports innovative evidence-based civil society and women-led solutions. It focuses on preventing violence against women and girls (VAWG) implementing laws and policies to address and eliminate violence against them and improving access to services for survivors. Project activities include: (1) mobilizing delivering and effectively managing funds and technical support for initiatives that prevent and address violence against women and girls; (2) producing and distributing collaborative and inclusive knowledge data and analysis based on the results of the UNTF initiatives that measurably inform policy and programming on violence against women and girls; and (3) creating partnerships and mobilizing support for increased funding and commitments to end violence against women and girls.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved prevention of VAWG through changes in behaviours practices and attitudes; (2) improved access for women and girls to essential specialist safe and adequate multisectoral services; and (3) increased effectiveness of legislation policies national action plans and accountability systems to eliminate VAWG and ensure the provision of services to those impacted by VAWG.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of December 2023 include: (1) 1 468 558 women and girls accessed to information goods resources and services to prevent or respond to violence against women and girls; (2) grantee partners supported 8 333 community leaders 1 401 faith leaders 2 705 traditional leaders and 3 613 youth leaders to publicly advocate for changes in behaviours practices and attitudes to ending violence against women and girls. This includes changing harmful traditional practices; (3) 48 959 women and girls used specialist services supported by the UN Trust Fund grantee partners to receive tailored responses to violence against them; and (4) at least 12 567 women and girls accessed justice in cases of violence against them through support from UN Trust.
