Project Description

This project aims to enhance women’s equitable rights to and control over land housing and livelihoods in urban environments in Angola Kenya South Africa and Uganda. Land and housing issues lie at the heart of poverty exclusion and insecurity faced by women and girls living in urban and peri-urban informal settlements in Sub-Saharan Africa. Project activities include training technical assistance and advocacy support to civil society organizations and local authorities. With GAC’s support Rooftops Canada - Abri International seeks to strengthen local gender-responsive policies laws practices and programs to provide households with more secure land and housing tenure and land and resources for urban agriculture that can help improve food security.
