Project Description

This project supports Ukrainian authorities in locating missing persons following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) will assist in identifying victims and supporting exhumations to judicial standards of evidence. Project activities include: (1) helping families of the missing so they understand and are engaged in the process to find or identify their missing relatives; and (2) empowering families of the missing to secure their rights to truth justice and reparations.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased ability by the Ukrainian authorities to investigate cases of missing persons including mass and clandestine graves to appropriate judicial standards; and (2) increased awareness by the families of missing persons and civil society organizations of their rights and obligations as part of their active participation in the missing persons process.
