Project Description

This project supports the safety and continued operations of civil society and independent media actors regarding Russian military aggression in Ukraine and the region around Ukraine. This includes providing civil society and independent media actors sub-grants and technical support. . Project activities include: (1) relocating staff and operations within Ukraine or to neighbouring countries as needed; (2) establishing civic hubs within Ukraine and neighbouring countries to enable coordination and provision of mutual support; (3) providing institutional support to continue critical civil society and media activities including countering disinformation; and (4) supporting increased physical and cyber security for civil society and media actors.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased capacity of civic and media actors to provide for the immediate safety of their staff activities and families. It also seeks international protection and means to continue activities outside of Ukraine; (2) increased capacity and coordination of both internally and externally relocated Ukrainian civic and media actors by supporting the establishment and operationalization of civic hubs; (3) increased capacity of local regional and national media to fight disinformation; and (4) strengthened cyber and physical security of Ukraine-based and exiled civil society and media organizations to help prevent digital and physical assaults.
