Holistic Support for Human Rights Defenders

This project aims to increase the freedom and security of human rights defenders in Iraq Lebanon Syria Ukraine and Sudan. Project activities include: (1) providing protection grants for human rights defenders at risk; (2) providing training and support to help protect the security of human rights defenders particularly on cyber issues and personal security; (3) mapping the civic space and activities of human rights defenders to improve the networks between them; and (4) sharing information on urgent protection cases and broader trends with international actors to lobby for protection of human rights defenders.

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) human rights defenders have strengthened resilience and ability to manage their security supported by a gender-sensitive approach; and (2) the political and security space in which human rights defenders operate is defended and potentially expanded.
