Project Description

This project aims to advance the shared objectives of the Australia Group and the G7-led Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction. It seeks to ensure that exports of goods and technology do not contribute to the proliferation of chemical or biological weapons. Project activities include: (1) reviewing and publishing the Australia Group booklet on “Intangible Technology Transfers and ‘Catch-All’ Export Controls”; and (2) conducting outreach to non-Australia Group countries to raise awareness of chemical and biological weapons risks.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased effectiveness in detecting and preventing chemical and biological weapons proliferation events globally; (2) increased collaboration between the Australia Group and the G7-led Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction; and (3) strengthened collaboration on export controls for chemical and biological weapons precursors and relevant dual-use goods and technologies.
