This is the phase II component of the “Dealing with the Past: Memory of the Future” project. Project activities include: (1) developing and disseminating educational materials and supporting awareness-raising activities for national and local actors; (2) creating interactive awareness tools about the Lebanese civil war for country-wise dissemination in support of reconciliation; (3) facilitating community and intergenerational dialogue between women and youth; and (4) organizing advocacy meetings and campaigns with decision-makers to acknowledge and respond to gender-based crimes during the Lebanese civil war. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations Women (UN Women) jointly implement this project.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved application of national reconciliation mechanisms and policies by national authorities; (2) increased integration of alternative memories and perspectives related to the civil war by women and men in Lebanon; and (3) reduced recurrence of violence between women and men and different communities in Lebanon.
