Strengthening nuclear security safety and safeguards in Ukraine

This project funds the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to assess nuclear safety security and safeguards at nuclear facilities in Ukraine in the wake of Russian attacks and occupation. Project activities include: (1) conducting a comprehensive assessment of nuclear safety security and safeguards implementation at Ukrainian nuclear facilities; (2) providing protective equipment for IAEA inspection staff; and (3) providing equipment and technical assistance to address priority nuclear safety security and safeguards implementation needs at Ukrainian nuclear facilities.

The expected outcome of this project is improved capability to manage nuclear and radiological materials by Ukrainian regulators and operators.
