Project Description

This project seeks to increase the Nature-based Solutions Nature-based Solutions best practice knowledge and capacities of climate change and biodiversity practitioners in developed and developing countries. Project activities include: (1) providing support for project design implementation and monitoring; (2) improving climate change vulnerability and biodiversity assessments baselines targets and monitoring systems; (3) tracking and reporting on progress global sharing of lessons learned; (4) monitoring implementation of corrective actions; tracking and reporting on progress of Canada’s Nature-based Solutions and biodiversity portfolio; and (5) capturing and synthesizing tools and lessons from the above activities at a portfolio level and widely sharing and promoting this information to Nature-based Solutions practitioners and other stakeholders. This project provides direct benefits to between 150 to 600 Nature-based Solutions for climate adaptation and biodiversity project staff with subsequent impacts benefiting 500 000 to over 1 000 000 women and men in Sub-Saharan Africa and worldwide.

Expected Results

This expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased Nature-based Solutions best practice knowledge and capacities of implementing partners of Canada’s nature-positive climate finance programming; (2) improved gender-responsive Nature-based Solutions project design implementation and monitoring; (3) improved climate change vulnerability and biodiversity assessments baselines targets and monitoring systems; implementation of corrective actions; (4) tracking and reporting on the progress of Canada’s Nature-based Solutions and biodiversity portfolio; and (5) increased sharing of tools and lessons from the above activities at a portfolio level with Nature-based Solutions practitioners and other stakeholders.
