Project Description
The project aims to increase respect for human rights in Peru—particularly for women indigenous and rural people human rights defenders and Venezuelan migrants. It supports the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to monitor and report on violations. Project activities include: (1) improving the UN country team’s early warning analysis and prevention capacities; (2) improving technical and strategic advice to government authorities to promote human rights and meet its obligations in line with international standards; and (3) providing technical and strategic advice to human rights defenders and civil society to advocate for and influence the state’s and others’ protection of human rights.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include (1) improved protection of human rights by public institutions in Peru—particularly for women indigenous and rural populations rights defenders and migrants; and (2) enhanced participation of civil society human rights defenders and communities to safely advocate for and influence state and others’ protection of human rights—in particular for women indigenous and rural populations and migrants.
