Project Description
This project seeks to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Guatemala. Certain communities are more vulnerable to food insecurity and climate shocks specially drought. The objective is for their crops to be abundant resilient nutritious high quality and able to adapt to climate change. Finally this project enables smallholder farmers to become self-sufficient producers resilient able to access formal markets and equipped to withstand economic shocks.
Expected Results
Results achieved as of March 2023 include the following: (1) the creation of 148 women’s savings groups in which women strengthened their decision-making and leadership skills; (2) 1 795 women improved their ability to work on environmental economic activities and value chains; (3) 2 472 women and girls increased their knowledge of food security and nutritional practices; and (4) 2 875 women increased their knowledge on the tools and processes to integrate climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Progress & Results Achieved
Result achieved as of December 2021 include the training of 1396 people (1371 women and 25 men) to develop profitable value chains. The training focused on health and nutrition gender equality and environmentally sustainable best business practices.
