Project Description
This project will improve sustainable livelihoods and economic well-being particularly for women their families and their communities in targeted post-conflict and poverty-stricken areas of rural Colombia. This project seeks to establish an Investment Readiness Platform (“Colombia SI2”) within Colombia that will provide capital and capacity support for enterprises cooperatives organizations and funds seeking to start or scale their impact with a particular focus on rural regions in Colombia and enterprises serving women. The proposed initiative will consolidate Colombia’s social impact investing ecosystem and act as a catalyzer for Colombia’s impact investing sector to advance toward maturity. Through SI2 Impact investing will play a critical role in responding to intractable challenges from social environmental and economic well-being for all citizens to the impacts of COVID-19. Overall more than 20 impact investments funds as well as 100 impact enterprises including inclusive or social businesses cooperatives associations non-profit organizations intermediaries and investors would be supported along with 10 rural communities translating into at least benefit 3 150 direct beneficiaries owners members and staff of impact enterprises in rural areas and 10 000 indirect beneficiaries and creating more than 500 new jobs
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased scale and viability of at least 100 rural impact enterprises in particular women-led or women-serving impact enterprises in vulnerable communities; (2) increased effectiveness of Colombia’s impact investing ecosystem for advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in rural areas of Colombia; and (3) Increased scale effectiveness and commitments of impact investors (at least $10M) in particular for women-led and women-serving impact enterprises.
