Project Description

This project aims to support vulnerable communities in the islands of Grenada Saint Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines to increase water security through nature-friendly community-driven rainwater-harvesting systems. Support targets vulnerable households and farmers in the communities and promotes female leadership and support to women farmers. Project activities include; (1) providing capacity building for integrated water resource management that considers climate change impacts biodiversity and inclusivity; (2) designing a strategy for collecting and digitizing hydro-meteorological data to better inform adaptation planning and support climate finance applications; (3) providing repairing or restoring equipment for rainwater capture and storage; and (4) promoting cross-country exchanges to facilitate the sharing of knowledge on best practices.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) Increased gender-responsive access and use of community-driven nature-friendly resilient water systems; and (2) Enhanced ecosystem conservation for improved water resources management and enhanced biodiversity.

Progress & Results Achieved

Result achieved as of March 2024 includes: engaged national stakeholders through Inception Workshops in Grenada Saint Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines to inform the final project implementation plan.
