Project Description
The initiative aims to improve the enjoyment of the right to health of Haitians particularly the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and adolescent girls. It will be implemented at the departmental level in the Southeast and at the national level in Port-au-Prince. It will contribute to a strengthened supply of sexual and reproductive health and rights services and better governance of health structures create an environment favorable to the rights of women and adolescents in the communities and strengthen the capacities of civil society to defend and demand these rights; and ultimately improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of Haitians while laying the groundwork for the adoption of policies norms and laws that are more respectful of the sexual and reproductive rights of women and adolescent girls in Haiti.
Expected Results
The expected results of this project include : (1) improved accountability of Haitian institutions in the area of health and SRHR for women and adolescent girls in the South-East Department; and (2) increased efficiency of Haitian citizens and women's and adolescent girls' rights organizations in advocating for sexual and reproductive health and gender equality.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of September 2024 include the following: (1) 27 women’s rights organizations were supported in carrying out advocacy initiatives for the sexual and reproductive rights of women and adolescent girls; (2) 1 338 women were trained on asserting their sexual and reproductive rights in the communities served by the project; (3) 19 adolescent girls and 28 women benefited from legal and psychological support services; and (4) 97 managers and providers (73 women and 24 men) were trained on monitoring and improving the delivery of sexual and reproductive health services.
