Project Description
The Field Support Services Project Myanmar aims to improve efficiency of Canada’s development programming and leadership in priority areas including gender equality and empowerment of women and girls inclusive governance human dignity and peace and security. It also aims to improve the relevance of Canada’s international assistance in addressing local development challenges plans and priorities in Myanmar and increase opportunities for meaningful engagement of civil society organizations to advance gender equality and human rights for women girls and other vulnerable communities.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved efficiency of Canada’s development programming and leadership in priority areas including gender equality and empowerment of women and girls inclusive governance human dignity and peace and security; (2) improved relevance of Canada’s international assistance in addressing local development challenges plans and priorities in Myanmar in alignment with FIAP core action areas incorporating a human rights and conflict sensitive approach with particular attention to the challenges and discrimination faced by women and girls; and (3) increased opportunities for meaningful engagement of civil society organizations to advance gender equality and human rights for women girls and other vulnerable communities.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of March 2024 include: (1) provided 5 technical specialists in gender governance health conflict sensitivity communication to support Canada’s development assistance in Myanmar; and (2) provided services to 448 women for sexual reproductive health. Also supported more than 10 000 people to gain skills and knowledge to promote women’s participation in community leadership roles.
