Project Description
This project enhances and contributes to the international community to conflict prevention peacebuilding and state-building through policy programme and partnership by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The UNDP serves as the new secretariat for the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS). The IDPS is a forum for political dialogue that brings together countries affected by conflict and fragility development partners and civil society. It comprises of members of the International Network on Conflict and Fragility (INCAF) the g7+ group of fragile and conflict-affected states and the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS). The UNDP through the IDPS fosters strategic dialogue leadership and political momentum on three thematic areas of focus: financing for peacebuilding and prevention operationalization of the Peace Vision and reinforcing the conflict prevention and peacebuilding agenda and examining the future of peacebuilding. Project activities include: (1) coordinating and facilitating meetings events and communications among the three member networks of the IDPS on topics and events in conflict prevention and peacebuilding; (2) producing communications on relevant analytical work in line with the priorities of the IDPS and consolidating and disseminating learning from IDPS events; and (3) advocating for the policy agenda identified and held by the IDPS by disseminating policy messaging on a global level and elevating the visibility of IDPS constituencies through relevant political events and knowledge products.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced capacity of civil society donor countries and fragile and conflict-affected states in the IDPS member networks to share knowledge and experiences and identify priority areas for political momentum and change in conflict prevention and peacebuilding; and (2) increased opportunities to foster political momentum and facilitate change through partnerships communications and participation in and hosting of high-level dialogues.
