Holistic Support for Human Rights Defenders in Iraq Lebanon Syria and Ukraine

This project aims to increase the freedom and security of human rights defenders in Iraq Lebanon Syria and Ukraine. Project activities include: (1) providing protection grants for human rights defenders at risk; (2) providing training and support to help protect the security of human rights defenders particularly on cyber issues and personal security; (3) mapping human rights defender’s civic space and activities to improve their networks ; (4) sharing information on urgent protection cases and broader trends with international actors to lobby for the protection of human rights defenders; and (5) providing institutional support grants to civil society organizations at risk.

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) strengthened human rights defenders’ resilience and ability to manage their security supported by a gender-sensitive approach; and (2) defended and expanded the political and security space in which human rights operate.
