Project Description
This project aims to help address the significant gender imbalance in the field of weapons and ammunition management (WAM) by providing technical training to women. This training will allow them to take on technical positions in this male-dominated sector and deliver technical trainings on weapons and ammunition management to security institutions in host countries. It also aims to support the universalization and implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty in particular the obligation of States Parties to implement national control systems and prevent diversion of weapons and ammunition. Project activities include the delivery of a series of train-the-trainer technical trainings such as ammunition management explosive ordnance disposal and weapons marking registration and recordkeeping.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) trained 10 women on International Ammunition Technical Guidelines compliant technical standards appropriate to their roles and context; and (2) trained 15 women as WAM Project Managers including technical managerial and policy competencies.
