These are 1) safeguarding the nutrition status of Myanmar’s vulnerable populations particularly women and children from immediate threats that lead to undernutrition; and 2) protecting short- and medium-term food and nutrition security of vulnerable groups including women children internally displaced people ethnic minorities migrant workers and people living with disabilities in order to mitigate the crisis and prevent backsliding on decades’ worth of progress. The project also extends its support to populations across Myanmar including those in Rakhine State by increasing economic opportunities improving nutrition outcomes and empowering women and ethnic minorities. Project activities include: (1) delivering community-based nutrition interventions including the provision of services where gaps exist; (2) building the gender-responsive institutional and implementation capacity at various levels of Ethnic Service providers and civil society organizations to provide quality health nutrition and protection services; and (3) ensuring the availability of and access to safe water hygiene and sanitary systems (WASH) linked to the current LIFT COVID-19 response.
