Project Description
This project aims to improve sustainable livelihoods and economic well-being of vulnerable groups in Vietnam particularly for women and people in disadvantaged areas. It increases the impact investment readiness of targeted social impact businesses (SIBs) especially women-focused SIBs and increases the provision of private capital for SIBs by investors. It provides a training program to enhance the level of business management and financial literacy of early-stage SIBs in rural and disadvantaged regions in Vietnam. Also it provides training and technical assistance on financial literacy models and projections as well as business valuation support and transaction structuring for growth-stage SIBs. The project is improving linkages between SIBs and investors. It promotes increased investment in SIBs through awareness-raising and an educational program for investors on impact investing and gender-lens investing in Vietnam. It is expected that the project will unlock private investment for SIBs that will be ready to absorb new funding because of project activities. Project activities include: (1) delivering technical assistance to support the capital raising process of SIBs; (2) providing impact assessment to support SIBs in gaining access to innovative finance transactions; (3) providing an investor-focused educational program on impact investing gender-lens investing climate change and innovative finance solutions; (4) establishing a crowdfunding platform to expand the visibility of investment-ready SIBs; and (5) developing a webinar series to showcase SIBs to investors.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased readiness to absorb private capital of targeted SIBs in Vietnam particularly those in disadvantaged geographical areas led by women or with women as primary beneficiaries; and (2) increased provision of private capital for SIBs by investors in Vietnam.
