Project Description

This project seeks to improve the enabling environment for inclusive trade and investment for developing Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies in the Asia-Pacific region. The APEC Women and the Economy Sub-Fund is managed by the APEC Secretariat’s Policy Partnership on Women and the Economy. The project supports the sub-fund in carrying out its mandate. Project activities include providing capacity building initiatives such as training workshops symposiums seminars and research to advance women’s economic empowerment. These capacity building activities focus on one or more of the following pillars of women’s economic participation: access to capital; access to markets; skills capacity building and health; leadership voice and agency; and innovation and technology.

Expected Results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased awareness of available resources tools and support systems for economic empowerment among women entrepreneurs and aspiring leaders of micro- small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs); and (2) increased access to information and forums on government policies regulations and legislations affecting MSMEs for women entrepreneurs and aspiring MSMEs leaders.
