Project Description
This project aims to enhance security and stability for communities affected by Daesh particularly women and girls in Iraq. This will be done by increasing the effectiveness of local Iraqi civil society organizations (CSOs) particularly women’s organizations to implement programs deliver services and advocate for legal and policy changes that advance Women Peace and Security (WPS) priorities and enhance protections and reintegration for Iraqis who have survived Daesh violence. Project activities include: (1) providing capacity-building workshops to CSOs; (2) establishing a local grants program to deliver inclusive services for Daesh-impacted communities; (3) engaging with relevant national and international stakeholders on WPS and gender equality matters; and (4) conducting outreach campaigns. The project is being implemented by MADRE in collaboration with three local CSO coalitions.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) enhanced financial capacity of Iraqi civil society organizations particularly women’s organization to advance local WPS priorities in Iraq; and (2) enhanced technical capacity of Iraqi civil society organizations particularly women’s organizations to advance local WPS priorities through conflict resolution and prevention projects in Iraq.
