Project Description

This project aims to strengthen radiological source security in Mexico through the consolidation removal and recycling of approximately 41 Canadian-origin disused radiological sources.

Expected Results

The expected outcome for this project is strengthened Mexico's national capacity to safely and securely manage disused sealed radioactive sources at the end of their lives thereby strengthening both regional and international security by securing radiological materials and preventing them from being acquired for use in acts of terrorism.

Progress & Results Achieved

Results achieved as of November 2020 include: (1) container and transport options were identified with estimates; and (2) technical specifications are now being gathered.
