Project Description
This project provides the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) funding to increase its readiness to monitor and verify denuclearization work in North Korea. Canada is the top national donor among the eight countries funding the IAEA for its North Korea team.
Expected Results
The expected outcomes of this include: (1) established secure information infrastructure; (2) purchased monitoring and verification equipment; (3) training provided for inspectors; and (4) procured satellite imagery.
Progress & Results Achieved
Results achieved as of December 2020 include: (1) increased access to commercial satellite imagery; (2) improved analysis of satellite imagery; (3) the enhancement of Korean language capabilities; (4) specialized training for inspectors; and (5) 3D modelling of North Korean nuclear facilities; and (6) specialized equipment procured and readied for potential deployment.
